Tag! You're it!: Plantable Gift Tags

My favorite things are those that are environmentally friendly and fun!

These gift tags, that I found on Ethical Ocean, the website for eco-friendly and fair trade shopping, are plantable! That’s right, you can put them right in soil and feel good about it! The event planner and earth lover in me couldn’t resist posting about these.

The symbols below are used by Ethical Ocean to label their products. These gift tags fall into ALL of the categories.

How do you grow wildflowers and plants from the paper?

To plant the paper, prepare a pot of soil or small patch of garden. Place plantable paper on top and cover with a thin layer of soil. Water well and give plenty of sunshine. Keep moist during germination. As the plants grow right out of the paper, look for flowers like Bird’s Eye, Clarkia, Black Eyed Susan, Poppy, Catchfly and Snap Dragon. There are three tags:

Here are some fun uses for the plantable tags:

“Oh Happy Day” :

  1. Put these on your wedding favors. The packages come with two of each tag, but maybe you can special order the kind you need…
  2. Use them to ask your friends/family if they will be in your wedding party. On the “To:” line write, “My Bridesmaid?” or “My Future Maid of Honor,” etc.

“Congratulations”:

Expecting? How about writing Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie, or Uncle on the “To” line…what a fun way to tell family members about your first baby! They will be so surprised. After the tears of joy and screams of glee, they can go plant the seeds and make the fresh air a little sweeter for new baby.

All of these to be attached to Environmentally friendly gifts of course;)

Why not use recycled  newspaper to wrap the gifts, instead of wasting paper that will just get throw away anyway?

Happy Planning and happy planting !
